If possible you also need to stay away from caffeine. You need to learn to live without drinking coffee every day, especially coffee with cream and sugar. If you do not master this you will not lose weight.
Candy bars, potato chips, and ice cream are also big no-nos. You cannot be in denial about how much of this type of food you eat a day and expect your vegan diet to succeed. You have to stay away from the type of logic where you tell yourself that you can sneak in these indulgences and still lose weight because you are eating mostly vegetables and fruits.
On this type of diet it is possible you may not get all of the calcium that you need because you will not be eating any cheese or dairy. Be very sure to take a calcium supplement every day to offset this problem.
You may also be short of B vitamins and iron. This is the result of not eating meat. If this is the case try taking a high quality vegan-based liquid iron and B supplement or consult with your physician as to whether or not you need a stronger form of supplementation.
